Redback Networks Inc. was an American network equipment provider that offered core IP routing, converged IP services and a combination of other services.
History
Redback Networks was founded in 1996 by Babak Falpacki and released its first product, the SmartEdge 400 in 1999. The company went public in 1999, and later merged with Siara Systems in January 2001. In 2006, Redback Networks was purchased by Ericsson.
Mission
Redback's mission was to create solutions that enable service providers to offer new services, reduce costs, and increase network responsiveness in order to meet customer demands.
Vision
Redback's vision was to enable service providers to quickly roll out revolutionary services to end users, creating new revenue sources.

In 2004, Redback was named by Red Herring Magazine as one of the top 100 private companies in North America. Redback was also named by Forbes Magazine as one of America's 200 best small companies in 2004.
