History

Ringier One Africa Media (ROAM) was founded in 2017 as a joint venture between Swiss media company Ringier Africa and global investment firm One Africa Media. The two companies merged their pan-African classifieds businesses, which included companies such as Jobberman, BrighterMonday, Cheki, and Private Property.

Ringier Africa was founded in 2011 as a subsidiary of Swiss media company Ringier AG. Its initial focus was on digital publishing, with a particular focus on Nigeria and Kenya. The company expanded rapidly across the continent, and in 2016, it acquired a controlling stake in DealDey, an e-commerce platform in Nigeria.

One Africa Media (OAM) was founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Justin Clarke. The company quickly became one of Africa's leading digital classifieds businesses, with a focus on jobs, cars, property, and travel. OAM raised significant funding from investors such as Tiger Global Management and SEEK Limited.

Following the merger, ROAM became one of the largest online classifieds companies in Africa, with a presence in 10 countries across the continent. The company's focus is on building customer-focused technology solutions to address the unique challenges of the African market.

In 2020, ROAM announced that it had raised $20 million in a funding round led by the European Investment Bank. The company plans to use the funds to expand its operations and invest in new technology solutions.
