RLJ Lodging Trust is a self-advised, publicly traded real estate investment trust that owns primarily premium-branded, high-margin, focused-service and compact full-service hotels. The Company's portfolio consists of 103 hotels with approximately 22,570 rooms, located in 23 states and the District of Columbia and an ownership interest in one unconsolidated hotel with 171 rooms.
History

RLJ Lodging Trust was founded in 2011 by Robert L. Johnson, the founder of BET and Chairman of RLJ Companies. RLJ Companies was first established in 2000 and was a private investment and management firm. In 2008, RLJ Companies acquired FelCor Lodging Trust, a publicly traded lodging REIT. After the acquisition, RLJ Companies began to spin off parts of the REIT into smaller REITs. Finally, in 2011, RLJ Lodging Trust was established as a spin-off of the original RLJ Companies REIT.
