History
1964: Rollins, Inc. purchased Orkin Exterminating Company, Inc. from the Orkin family and helped turn the business into one of the largest pest management companies in the United States.
1966: Over the coming years they used cash flow, eschewing debt or outside investment, to expand Orkin state by state without diluting his family's 64% stake. His fortune grew.
1968: When Glen (his son) turned two, Wayne set up the Rollins Children's Trust.
1975: The business model was simple: "A woman won't put up with a roach for $10 a month," he told Forbes.
1995: The first Orkin franchise opens in the US.
1999: Rollins enters the Canadian market with the acquisition of PCO services.
2000: First Orkin international franchise.
2001: Gary Rollins, son of O. Wayne Rollins, has been the CEO since July 24.
2004: Glen was named COO of Orkin, overseeing acquisitions like the $110 million buyout of New Jersey's Western Pest Services, now under the Rollins Inc. umbrella.
2005: Rollins acquires the Industrial Fumigant Company.
2010: Gary and Randal, facing a generation that grew up rudderless, tried to offset any issues in how they were raised with bureaucracy--and policing.
2011: Rollins Inc., announced that the company, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Orkin, has established a new international franchise in Shanghai, China. This franchise is Orkin’s first in China.
2014: In July, the company reported its 33rd consecutive quarter of earnings growth, with revenues up 5% to $682.7 million during the first six months of the year versus the one before. Before his ex-wife left Boxwood in July, Glen was renting an Atlanta townhouse owned by his mom.
