Service Properties Trust was founded in 2004 when Starwood Capital Group joined forces with two other entities, Lightstone Group and Prudential Financial, to established the company. In 2006, Service Properties Trust went public and listed its shares of common stock in the REIT family on the NASDAQ Exchange. Since then, SVC has grown significantly, acquiring more hotels and expanding its travel center portfolio.
