In addition, the company offers professional, educational, and customer support services. It sells its products through its direct sales team as well as indirectly through channel partners and third-party referrals.ServiceNow was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in Santa Clara, California, United States.

History

ServiceNow is a software platform that provides a suite of cloud-based applications for IT service management and automation. Founded in 2004, the company began as a small startup in San Diego, California. Its founders recognized the need for a platform to help organizations manage IT services more efficiently, and developed the platform to address that need.

In 2006, the company changed its name to ServiceNow.  2007 was also the first year that the company "went cash flow positive". ServiceNow reported an annual revenue of US$13 million and opened its first Silicon Valley office, in San Jose. In 2011, ServiceNow acquired Novell's workflow automation and IT service management software, which helped to further expand the capabilities of its platform. In the same year, it acquired the enterprise social software company Jive Software.

At this time, the company was sometimes known as "Service-now". By April 2011, the company had named Frank Slootman as chief executive officer. From 2012 through 2016, ServiceNow continued to grow, expanding its product lineup to include offerings such as asset management, mobile device management, and customer service management. In June 2012, ServiceNow became a publicly traded company following a US$210 million IPO. Shortly thereafter, the company relocated its headquarters from San Diego to Santa Clara, California. In 2016, it acquired enterprise cloud service provider, BrightPoint, and launched its own artificial intelligence platform, Now Intelligence.

Today, ServiceNow is one of the leading providers of enterprise cloud solutions, and its platform is used by businesses of all sizes, across many industries. The company continues to grow and evolve, with a focus on providing customers with the tools to streamline and automate their IT service management processes.
