Sonesh was born in Stratford, London, England, and has a background in Entertainment, Film and Music. He studied at The University of Birmingham. His family has been deeply involved with and accomplished in the film and entertainment industry. He is the son of prolific British Indian actor, Gurdial Sira, and started acting as a young child, appearing in several films and TV shows. The Sira family has collectively been involved for over 50 years in Film, with notable titles like Gandhi, Octopussy, Spies Like Us, Arabian Adventure and over a hundred more to their credits.

He played P.C. Dinesh Patel in the popular show "The Bill" that first aired in 1984. He also played Kassava Major in "To Serve Them All My Days" in 1980, Ravinder in "An East End Story" in 1987, in "Starting Out" in 1985, and "That Uncertain Feeling" (1986). 

Sonesh evolved from acting to producing full-time, culminating in a partnership with Percept Picture Company, producing films and commercials such as Truck of Dreams and Mother Teresa featuring Penelope Cruz. He has, since, produced films both in Hollywood and Bollywood and has been working in partnerships between UK, Europe, India, and Africa. Sonesh also produced and arranged many major live events such as the Hope Gala, Sangeet Awards and the Indian Film Festival.

Playing between governments, fintech, and supply chain, he has created business corridors between India and UK and Europe, connecting international billion USD groups and supporting their international expansions.

Biography

Sonesh Sira was born on 15 September, 1966 in Stratford, London, England, UK, in a family that was deeply involved in the film and entertainment industry. His father, a prolific British Indian actor, Gurdial Sira, worked in notable titles including Gandhi, Octopussy, Spies Like Us, Arabian Adventure, Mohabbatein, and over a hundred more to his credit.

His brother, Puneet Sira is an award-winning British and Bollywood filmmaker. His production company, The Foundry is actively developing and producing feature films and a slate of highly anticipated original IP premium content for OTT platforms. He has produced and directed several dramas for television and feature films including the cult classic I - Proud to be an Indian (2004), Jai Veeru: Friends Forever (2009) and critically acclaimed Kisaan (2009) for which he received a Best Director honor. Virat Kohli's Super V (2019), a Superhero animation series, directed by Puneet is the highest rated show in the animation bracket in India. 

His wife, Suvarna Jha Sira, is an Indian television actress who played Tripti Virani in the popular daily soap, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She was also a part of many Bollywood movies and Indian shows, including Sssshhh (2003 movie), Jannat (a muslim social drama on Channel Nine Gold, character Zoya), Dekho Magar Pyaar Se (TV show aired on Star Plus), LUX Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket (on 9X channel), Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai (character Mishti), and Kasamh Se (played Karuna, aired in 2006-07).

Sonesh started acting at a very early age, playing the role of an Indian boy in "The Velvet Glove", a BBC TV series aired in 1977. He played the role of a Kassava Major in a TV mini series "To Serve Them All My Days" that was aired in 1980. Since then, he has appeared in various roles, like Ali Kasim in Murphy's Mob (1982), Adjit in The Hard Word (1983), Iskander in Starting Out (1986), a Lascar Sailor in That Uncertain Feeling (1986), Ravinder in An East End Story (1987), P.C. Patel in The Bill (1987), the tall Indian Soldier in The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones: Treasure of the Peacock's Eye (1987), and Younger Prakash in How I Became Indian (1996).

Sonesh evolved from acting to producing full-time, culminating in a partnership with Percept Picture Company, working from both its Mumbai offices as well as his own in Soho Square, London for many years. He has produced many films and commercials such as Truck of Dreams and Mother Teresa, featuring Penelope Cruz. Sonesh also produced and arranged many major live events such as the Hope Gala, Sangeet Awards, and the Indian Film Festival.
