Stone Energy was founded in 1988 by Tom and Jerry Stone and began its life as a publicly traded company in 1991. In 1992, the company underwent a major restructuring that saw the company shift from an exploration and production focus to the development and production of proven reserves. Over the years, Stone Energy has developed a portfolio of proven reserves in the Gulf of Mexico, Appalachia and the Mid-Continent, as well as a selectcore of exploration assets.
