
The company was established in 1991 following the privatisation of the state-owned Telia AB. In 2002, Telia Lietuva acquired its first mobile licence, providing services under the Omnitel brand. In 2003, its second GSM 900/1800 licence was awarded and that same year, the company changed its name to Omnitel. In 2005, TeliaSonera, the Swedish-Finnish telecommunications corporation, acquired 100% of the company’s shares. In 2006, Omnitel adopted its current name.
