The Hokkoku Bank was established in 1907 by Inoue Kaichir?, Matsumoto Nisuke, and Nagano Akio, who saw the need for a local bank in the city of Kanazawa. Initially the bank was focused on providing deposits, loans and payments services to the local community. In 1954, the bank opened its first branch outside of Kanazawa in Okayama City. Since then, the bank has grown to become one of the leading regional banks in Japan, with 116 offices covering Ishikawa Prefecture, Fukui Prefecture, Toyama Prefecture, Ohita Prefecture and Nagano Prefecture.
