The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Business School was established in 1991 and has achieved global recognition in a variety of academic rankings and has been accredited by the AASCD and the EQUIS.  The business school has a commitment to research and thought leadership and maintains stat-of-the-art learning and exploration centers devoted to different areas of Asian business, such as entrepreneurship or experimental business research in China. HKUST has a unique Asian and global perspective with the school’s location and diverse 140 faculty members.  The diversity of the faculty provides students with consistent engaging and stimulating environments for education and research.  The business school has mentored and educated students who have achieved successful careers as entrepreneurs, business executives, scholars, and community leaders. HKUST has also produced high-quality research findings that have provided knowledge to real life practices.  They have a mission to advance global business knowledge, develop business leaders in Asia and for the world, and contribute to the economic and social advancement of the region.  Additionally, each member of KHUST’s community embraces the core values of world-class quality, entrepreneurial spirit, a caring attitude, and making a positive impact. One of the key features of KHUST Business School is internalization.  The business school offers comprehensive education that provides students with cultural insights and expose them to global outlooks. The business school has three MBA modules, two EMBA programs, six departments, and 11 research centers.  The entire school has a student body of just over 5,000 with a third of them being postgraduates.

Courses

The Full-time MBA Program is offered in 12-month or 16-month periods and students must complete 52 credits, 60% gained through required courses and 40% from electives.  They teaching mode varies between courses to ensure students gain the most benefits from the interactive content; the full program contains lectures, discussions, seminars, case analysis, simulation, individual and group projects, and presentations.  Below are the schedules for the 12-month and 16-month programs, provided by KHUST.

 The Part-time MBA Program develops students abilities to manage a career successfully in the global economy and operate a business efficiently in the Chinese context.  The curriculum is composed of 45 credits and is 24 months long.  The teaching method is the exact same as the full-time MBA program, but classes occur on Saturdays from 9 am to 6 pm.  Below is a program schedule from KHUST. KHUST Executive MBA Program is designed for Chinese speaking executive and entrepreneurs in Asia and GreaterChina.  The program integrates cutting-edge management theories with management practices in China.  The program consists of 20 modules presented in 16-18 weeks.  More than eight of the modules will be conducted on campus while the remaining will be in the main cities of China, including Beijing and Shanghai.  Teaching materials are provided in both Chinese and English.

The Kellogg-KHUST Executive MBA Program is organized in short intensive modules that improve executives in three specific areas of management:

  • Behavior in learning organizations
  • International management
  • Managing groups of co-operating firms for international competitiveness

The program starts with one live-in week at KHUST, followed by a monthly live-in weekends for modules one through six.  Students then have two live-in weeks at Kellogg School and conclude with monthly live-in weekends for modules seven through 11.  Classes are held on Friday afternoons, Saturdays, and Sundays and occur from approximately 8 am to 5 pm.
