Through an intense focus on placemaking, JBG SMITH cultivates vibrant, amenity-rich, walkable neighborhoods throughout the Capital region, including National Landing where it serves as the exclusive developer for Amazon's new headquarters. JBG SMITH's portfolio currently comprises 20.7 million square feet of high-growth office, multifamily and retail assets, 98% at our share of which are Metro-served. It also maintains a development pipeline encompassing 17.1 million square feet of mixed-use development opportunities.
History
JBG SMITH traces its history back to 1999 and its formation as JBG Cos., a privately held investor, developer and manager of real estate assets. In 2013, JBG Cos. acquired The John Buck Co., which was founded in 1975. Together, JBG and Buck created a publicly traded real estate investment trust known as JBG SMITH in October 2014.

JBG SMITH has been recognized by multiple industry organizations for its innovation in the Washington metropolitan area. In 2019, we were honored to have won National Association of Industrial and Office Parks awards for Best Land Deal of the Year with the Metropolitan Airport Authority, and Best Redevelopment/Reuse with The Apollo at The Yards. In addition, our team has been honored with numerous awards from organizations like Community Partners for Economic Development, the Northern Virginia Technology Council, and the DC Building Industry Association.
