Summary

The Turkish Employers' Association of Metal Industries (MESS) was founded in 1959 to help lead the development of Turkey’s metal industry. 

Its main activities are to: operationalise the new vision to enable member companies in their digital transformation journey to Industry 4.0 and to maintain its conventional tasks as an industry association. It represents a wide range of metal and related industries, including automotive, moulding, machinery, durable goods, iron and steel, and cabling, with more than 185,000 employees. Its membership includes: Siemens, Bosch, B/S/H, Mercedes Benz, Ford & FIAT (Koc Holding Joint Ventures), Koç Group, Renault, MAN and Gestamp.

As a founding member of TCSK (Turkish Confederation of Employers’ Associations), MESS is structured to support member companies to become more productive and highly qualified, to enable them to get successful results in the midst of a turbulent, dangerous, and rapidly changing economic, technological and social environment.

History

Turkish Employers’ Association of Metal Industries, MESS was established in Istanbul, in 14 October 1959 by eleven visionary and modern entrepreneurs, with principles who have committed themselves to the industrialisation of the country.

Goals and Purpose

Mission

The objective of MESS is to provide sustainable and extensive peaceful working conditions, based on mutual trust and dialogue, in harmony and accordance with the common interests of our members and employees.

Vision

In cooperation and solidarity with the employers in the metal and electronic industries, MESS aims to develop well-balanced, reliable, and stable industrial relations, while increasing the competitiveness and the productivity of industry.

Impact

Consisting of members who are leading names in serving the main and supply industries in automotive, iron and steel casting, white goods and other metal industries, MESS also undertakes collective bargaining and contracts for its 209 members and 185 thousand direct employees. MESS member companies account for 27% of Turkish exports, 24% of overall manufacturing turnover and 12% of employment in metals industry thus tremendously contribute to Turkey's competitive strength.
