Universit Paris-Saclay

Université Paris-Saclay is a French university created on November 6, 2019, by a decree published in the Official Journal as an experimental public institution of scientific, cultural, and professional character. It is the heir of the Paris-Sud-XI University, created on January 1, 1971.

Before November 2019, the Université Paris-Saclay was a community of universities and institutions (ComUE). Its initial purpose was to constitute the training and research hub of the Paris-Saclay industrial cluster.

The creation of the Université Paris-Saclay aims to closely intertwine research and innovation, incorporating both basic and applied science to tackle major societal challenges. It covers the fields of science and engineering, life sciences and health, and humanities and social sciences.

The history of Université Paris-Saclay can be traced back to the creation of the University of Paris-Sud XI on January 1, 1971.
