VFD Group Plc. is a Nigerian based proprietary investment company that focuses on building positive and socially conscious ecosystems by aggregating potentially viable business with the objective of creating innovative products and solutions that are accessible to the everyday entrepreneur. Since 2009, VFD Group has been building an industry-agnostic proprietary investment company, with a portfolio of over 40 businesses across different sectors and geographies, creating innovative products and solutions for the African market.

History

VFD Group was incorporated in July 2009. The company started active business operations on list in January 2011, and set up real estate business, Dynasty Real Estate (DRE), in 2014. During the same year, the company also commenced investments interest in Insurance. They received the license for Bureau De Change operations in 2014, and in 2015, the company obtained Microfinance Bank license- thus establishing their VFD MFB vertical. In 2016, the VFD attempted the first take-over in NEM and consolidated a 10% interest. It also invested in Germaine Motors during the same year and gained a controlling interest in it. Then in 2017, the company obtained Asset Management License via Anchoria Asset Management from SEC. During 2017, Anchoria Asset Management launched 3 SEC registered mutual funds- with A(f) ratings from August & Co. and A+(f) from Data Pro rating agency. Subsequently, the company recorded a combined success rate of 105% during the capital raise, exceeding 50 shareholders needed to be a private company. During the first quarter of 2018, VFD issued the first of its kind fixed rate unsubordinated secured Debt Notes of N 1m per note to individuals and corporate investors. The company also consolidated a 32% consortium of NEM during the same year. In 2019, VFD Group acquired the single largest stake in Abbey Mortgage Bank, and also acquired Atiat Leasing, an eBar. The group also led the consortium to divest their 32% in NEM. During the same year, the company expanded their services in Real Estate and Hospitality sector with the launch of Boardroom Apartments. And later, the group became a public limited company- VFD Group PLC. In 2020, VFD Group's MFB unit launched Vbank in digital banking app. VFD Tech was also set up during the same year. The total assets of the group grew from N 2.5m to N 53b in just over a decade. In 2021, VFD Group established HEREL, a real estate investment company. During the same year, the group also established an Arts Investment Platform- African Art Masters Trust.

2020 Won ‘Best Investor Relations’ and as ‘Alternative Investment Manager’ at BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions’ (BAFI) Award. 2021 Most Innovative Investment Company in Nigeria by the International Finance Magazine.
