Vinacomin Power Holding's history can be traced back to the early 20th century and the establishment of the French colonial company La Compagnie des Charbonnages du Tonkin. Vinacomin Power Holding was established through the restructuring of Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation (Vinacomin) in 1996. Vinacomin Power Holding has since then grown and expanded to become the leading energy provider in Vietnam.
