Wilsons Leather was founded in 1988 by an ambitious and entrepreneurial husband and wife team. The couple began selling leather vests and accessories out of a small storefront in Brooklyn, New York. Over the years, the company grew and expanded, opening additional stores across the United States and Canada. In 2009, the company was purchased by G-III Apparel Group, and continues to operate as a subsidiary of the company.
