The company was founded in 1993 by its current CEO Walter Oberhänsli. The company name is derived form an actual pharmacy called Zur Rose in the village of Steckborn. A large number of competitors in pharma logistics and online commerce were acquired over the years, including Ogera AG , Helvepharm AG , DocMorris , Eurapon Pharmahandel GmbH , Promofarma , apo-rot and medpex . The group also acquired two software companies; BlueCare AG and TeleClinic , a telemedicine provider.Zur Rose Group IPOed on the SIX Swiss Exchange on July 6, 2017.Since 2017 Zur Rose Group operates in Switzerland a small number of physical shop-in-shop stores in collaboration with Switzerland's largest retailer Migros.
