Workday Launches Over 120 AI Models to Strengthen CLM
Workday has introduced a Custom AI Model Library for its Contract Intelligence and CLM platform, powered by technology acquired from Evisort. The library includes over 120 pre-built AI models that analyse clauses, risks, financial details, privacy terms, and renewal conditions across HR, vendor, legal, IT, finance, and sales contracts. Customers can refine the models using a no-code interface.
Workday has announced the release of a new Custom AI Model Library to support Workday Contract Intelligence and Workday Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM). The development follows the company’s acquisition of Evisort in September 2024, whose capabilities have now been integrated and expanded across the platform. The new library includes more than 120 pre-built AI models designed to identify key clauses, terms, risks, and line items across a broad range of contract types.

Expanded AI capabilities across contract types
The models are trained to analyse HR contracts, vendor and supplier agreements, financial and legal documentation, IT service contracts, and sales agreements. Workday states that the models are intended to increase the speed and accuracy of contract reviews, help detect potential risks earlier, and reduce the manual workload typically associated with contract management.
The models can recognise and interpret terms including payment schedules, data privacy obligations, and contract renewal provisions. Although full public documentation of each model’s scope is not provided, the models are developed to automate analysis tasks, highlight risk elements, track contractual obligations, and uncover operational or financial opportunities.
Workday notes that users can refine and retrain the models using a no-code interface, without requiring specialist data science or development expertise. Customers are expected to be able to adapt the models to specific industry terminology and organisational policies to improve relevance and output accuracy.
How the model library supports business functions
The new Custom AI Model Library helps organisations summarise, calculate, classify, and extract contractual information at scale. Workday highlights several use cases across operational teams:
- HR and legal teams: Summarise complex employment terms, such as non-compete clauses, in plain language and reference them across internal systems.
- Finance teams: Identify and extract financial information including payment amounts, dates, and location details, which may be used to improve accuracy in invoice and billing processes.
- Data and compliance teams: Analyse contractual requirements relating to privacy, access control, data minimisation, and deletion responsibilities.
- Real estate and facilities: Extract information from lease documents, including property size, tax obligations, repair commitments, and rights of first refusal.
- Sales and commercial teams: Identify terms related to publicity permissions, included service components, and renewal pricing, and enable data sharing with CRM platforms.
Market perspective and outlook
The announcement, made ahead of Workday’s upcoming event in Barcelona, marks a significant milestone in the company’s AI roadmap. While detailed information about each of the 120 models is yet to be released, the scale of the initiative suggests a strong commitment to competing with leading players in the contract intelligence space, such as Agiloft and Icertis.
Questions remain about pricing and whether the new models will be included within existing subscriptions or offered as add-ons. However, the release underlines Workday’s intent to make Contract Intelligence a central feature of its enterprise suite, offering enhanced value to customers managing large volumes of complex agreements.
