NVIDIA is transforming healthcare with AI and accelerated computing, partnering with IQVIA, Illumina, Mayo Clinic, and Arc Institute. These collaborations enhance drug discovery, genomics, pathology, and biological research.

The healthcare industry is undergoing a transformation, driven by artificial intelligence (AI) and accelerated computing. NVIDIA, a global leader in AI-driven technologies, is at the forefront of this revolution, fostering collaborations with research institutions, healthcare providers, and technology companies. These partnerships are paving the way for advancements in drug discovery, genomics, pathology, and patient care.

At the 43rd annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference, Kimberly Powell, Vice President and General Manager of Healthcare at NVIDIA, outlined how AI is enabling groundbreaking solutions across the healthcare sector.

Powell highlighted how NVIDIA’s computing platforms are tailored to the specific needs of healthcare, stating:

“We have different modules that speak the languages of healthcare. They are domain-specific to healthcare. They speak the languages of proteins, chemistry, DNA. They speak the languages of 3D medical imaging. We’re building full stack computing platforms to enable the whole ecosystem.”

NVIDIA’s recent partnerships with IQVIA, Illumina, Mayo Clinic, and Arc Institute are expanding the scope of AI in medical research and patient care, pushing the boundaries of innovation.

Agentic AI to advance research and drug development

IQVIA, a global provider of clinical research services and healthcare intelligence, has partnered with NVIDIA to develop AI-driven foundation models. With access to over 64 petabytes of data, IQVIA is leveraging agentic AI to enhance clinical research, speed up drug development, and improve access to new treatments. By incorporating AI-driven insights, the company aims to refine clinical trials and bring novel therapies to market more efficiently.

Accelerated computing to unlock genomic insights

Illumina, a leader in DNA sequencing and informatics, is collaborating with NVIDIA to integrate AI-driven solutions into its genomics research. This partnership is focused on multiomics, which involves studying multiple biological datasets such as genomics and epigenomics. Through AI-powered analysis, researchers can gain a deeper understanding of genetic structures, improving drug discovery and advancing personalised medicine.

Revolutionising digital pathology with AI

Mayo Clinic and NVIDIA are working together to develop next-generation pathology foundation models. Pathology, a critical field in disease diagnosis, has traditionally relied on manual analysis of slides under microscopes—a process that is both time-consuming and resource-intensive.

With the Mayo Clinic Digital Pathology platform, which contains a dataset of 20 million whole-slide images linked to 10 million patient records, NVIDIA is developing AI models that can accelerate and enhance pathology research. The integration of AI with digital pathology is expected to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency in clinical settings.

AI-powered biological research for multi-modal analysis

The Arc Institute, a research organisation operating at the intersection of biology and AI, is collaborating with NVIDIA to scale foundational models that can generalise across multiple biological modalities. By leveraging AI for the study of DNA, RNA, and proteins, the partnership aims to drive advancements in drug discovery and synthetic biology. This research will contribute to a deeper understanding of complex diseases and the development of new therapeutic interventions.

Reshaping the future of healthcare through AI

The integration of AI and accelerated computing into healthcare is reshaping the industry, making research and patient care more precise, efficient, and accessible. NVIDIA’s role in enabling AI-driven solutions for drug discovery, genomics, pathology, and biological research highlights the transformative potential of these technologies.

As AI continues to advance, its impact on healthcare will only grow, leading to faster discoveries, improved treatments, and better patient outcomes.

These collaborations and innovations demonstrate how AI is becoming an essential tool in scientific research, fostering a technology-driven healthcare ecosystem that is poised to improve lives globally.
