Clearhaus Marks 10 Years in Fintech with Strategic Move Towards Unified Commerce
30 May 2025, 11:32 am GMT+1
Clearhaus, a Danish fintech and acquirer, celebrates 10 years by expanding into in-store payment acquiring in 2025, marking a strategic move towards Unified Commerce. Already serving over 33,000 online merchants across Europe, the company, part of the Unzer Group, plans to support American Express by 2026, enhancing its all-in-one payment platform for businesses.
Clearhaus, a prominent Danish fintech company headquartered in Aarhus, is marking its 10th year in the payment acquiring sector with a significant expansion of its services. The company, which began processing online payments in 2015, now supports over 33,000 online stores across 33 European countries.
As it celebrates a decade of operations, Clearhaus is preparing to offer acquiring services for physical stores, signalling a major step towards Unified Commerce.
Strengthening infrastructure and market reach
Since its inception, Clearhaus has focused on simplifying and securing online payments for webshops. The company operates its own scalable technical infrastructure and holds certifications from the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority, Visa, and Mastercard. This has enabled it to build a reliable foundation for processing secure and efficient online transactions.
“Clearhaus was founded with the ambition to change how online payments work. We challenged the long onboarding processes, unclear terms, poor user interfaces, and lack of technical support businesses had to deal with. Since 2015, we’ve grown rapidly, with a strong focus on fast onboarding, robust APIs, and an intuitive dashboard. Soon, we’ll also be able to support payment acquiring from physical stores,” says Francois Vachon, Managing Director of Clearhaus.
Transition to unified commerce
In 2025, Clearhaus will expand its operations to include Point-of-Sale (POS) acquiring, enabling businesses to accept in-store payments. This move positions the company as a key player in the growing Unified Commerce space, a model that integrates online, offline, and mobile payment systems into a single, seamless solution.
“We’re seeing growing demand in the market for consolidated payment solutions. By offering both e-commerce and POS from a single platform, we can initially provide businesses with better data insights, higher conversion rates, and more efficient operations,” says Vachon.
He adds, “Being able to act as an acquirer for in-store payments is a natural next step in bringing Unified Commerce to Denmark. Unified Commerce is not a trend – it’s the future. That’s why we are making strategic investments to support Danish and European businesses through this transformation. We’ll start by offering POS acquiring to our parent company, Unzer Group, and then extend the service to other partners.”
Integration with Unzer Group
Clearhaus became part of the Unzer Group in 2021, gaining access to enhanced technological capabilities, international expertise, and increased capital resources. The partnership enables Clearhaus to extend its service portfolio while maintaining high standards in payment processing.
“With the Unzer Group’s engine behind us, we can deliver even more value to our customers and partners through a comprehensive portfolio of payment and software solutions that meet the highest international standards,” says Vachon.
Clearhaus plans to expand its acquiring licence to include American Express payments by 2026. This certification will further diversify the company’s payment options and enhance its service offering to businesses operating internationally.
