In this episode of the Techabc, Dinis Guarda introduces his co-host Gonçalo Pereira, an innovative IT tech leader who is a specialist in immersive technologies, cloud computing, 3D and spatial technologies, and Artificial Intelligence. The podcast is under the flagship of Dinis Guarda YouTube channel and is powered by Businessabc.net and citiesabc.com.
Techabc is a sub-series under the flagship of Dinis Guarda YouTube channel. The podcast series aims to keep the audience up-to-date with cutting-edge developments in tech, while also shedding light on the practical application and management of various tech-related aspects.
“Techabc is a series that increasingly highlights the tech opportunities that we are facing, products, solutions, and how the world can align itself with the velocity of innovation and tech revolution. The series will also feature personalities that are quite important and critical for leading this revolution", says host Dinis Guarda, Founder and CEO of ztudium Group.
The discussion in this episode of Techabc delves into the business implications of emerging technologies such as 3D, spatial computing, AR/VR/MR, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Gonçalo brings his extensive experience in telecommunications and advanced tech solutions to discuss how these technologies are transforming business landscapes. The former tech executive at global corporations, including Nokia Siemens Networks, says:
“It's very difficult job to speak with the decision makers”, says Gonçalo. “The problem is with the companies owned by governments where the management is chosen by the party that is managing the country. Normally, what they do is to choose people from business schools and from a business and management perspective and not from a technical background. So, the main issue is that the decision makers are not from the technology field. So, even if you have a team that understands technology, the decision makers never understand. In this scenario, it's very difficult to explain the advantage of using technology because technology is always seen as a cost and not as an investment.
Technology should be seen as an investment and not as a cost that you need to invest for a corporation or your private or public company. Nevertheless, we had COVID and that helped a lot to bring the value of technology to humankind. The governments have now started to realise that technology was much more useful than they thought.”
Future of Business: A 3D world augmented with AI
According to Gonçalo:
“We should be the last generation to use flat screens for interacting with the machines and computers. I hope that the new generations will use Spatial Computing and 3D technology to interact with each other and with computers. I think we will shift rapidly from a 2D interface to a 3D interface because it's more natural that we live in the 3D World.”
He further adds:
“AI is a tool that people will start using like they started using with the keyboard and mouse. Only difference is that now they can use it just with the voice, and in the future just with the mind. AI is the tool that will democratise all types of technologies and even 3D technology.
Right now, you have a huge effort to build a 3D world, but in a couple of years you just need to ask what you want to have in your 3D world, and you will have an automated generative AI process that will build your 3D world in real time and then you can share that virtual world space with your friends or with your colleagues."
Speaking about his view of future, Gonçalo says:
“I'm optimistic that this will bring a lot of new ways of working and will give us more time to be with our families, more time to be doing some things that we like. It will be the beginning of putting those AI agents to work for us on tasks that take too much time and effort, so that we can use our time to learn new things, to adapt to new realities, and to study new ways of taking advantage of those tools.
We still need to find out in the future, the ways to transmit the information from humans to machines in a much faster and efficient way than just eyes and voice. Let's see what happens and someone is thinking about brain to computer interfaces but it's something that is very early, but it might be a solution; we don't know. But I'm optimistic that even this will bring us more capacity as humans to use and to take advantage of artificial intelligence.”
