The 10th World Parliament of Science, Religion, and Philosophy is set to take place from Thursday, 3rd October to Saturday, 5th October 2024 at the World Peace Dome in Pune, Bharat. A vision of Rev. Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, who has dedicated his life to promoting world peace through the harmonious integration of science, spirituality, and philosophy, the event is a celebration of the 10th year of its establishment. 

The central theme of the World Parliament of Science, Religion, and Philosophy is to explore how the union of science, spirituality, and philosophy can bring lasting peace to humanity. The 10th World Parliament of Science, Religion, and Philosophy aims to bridge the divide between intellectual inquiry and spiritual enlightenment, fostering a "Culture of Peace" through meaningful dialogue between global leaders in science, religion, and governance.

This year's event will include keynote speeches, divine blessing ceremonies by revered religious leaders, discussions on the establishment of universal education systems, and the role of global organisations like the UN, WHO, and UNESCO in maintaining global peace.

This three-day event will bring together eminent political leaders, religious heads, scholars, and scientists to engage in dialogue on topics such as the role of science and religion in promoting peace, the need for an integrated education system, and how global warming and sustainable development goals can be redefined for human survival. Discussions will culminate in the adoption of the Pune Declaration, which will outline resolutions for promoting global peace and understanding.

The World Peace Dome: Architectural Marvel

The World Peace Dome, situated at Loni University, Pune, is more than a venue for this historic event. It is a living monument dedicated to the pursuit of world peace and the synthesis of knowledge from the East and West.

With a diameter of 160 feet and a height of 263 feet, the World Peace Dome is the largest dome in the world. Built on just 24 pillars, this majestic structure can accommodate 3,000 people in its World Peace Prayer Hall. The World Peace Library, housed beneath the dome, spans an impressive 62,500 sq. ft., providing an invaluable repository of knowledge accessible to all.

The dome also features 54 larger-than-life bronze statues of saints, scientists, philosophers, and historical figures, symbolising the meeting of diverse ideologies to foster peace. This living heritage exemplifies the Indian ethos of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" – The World is One Family.

Rev. Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad: A Visionary for Global Peace

The visionary behind the World Peace Dome and the driving force of the World Parliament is Rev. Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad. His mission to promote peace is deeply rooted in his belief that the union of science and spirituality is the key to achieving harmony in the world. Dr. Karad has spearheaded numerous initiatives, including the establishment of the World Peace Centre at Alandi, and has been an advocate for value-based universal education.

Dr. Karad's Life Mission and Philosophy:

  1. Union of Science and Spirituality: Dr. Karad believes that only by merging scientific inquiry with spiritual wisdom can humanity achieve true peace and harmony.
  2. Reforming Education: He calls for a complete revamping of the education system, emphasising a value-based education model that integrates science, philosophy, and spirituality.
  3. Environmental Preservation: His efforts include environmental improvement projects, such as the Alandi-Dehu river pollution control initiative, showcasing his commitment to ecological preservation.

Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad is the founder and Director General of the Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) in Pune and the World Peace Centre under the Maharashtra Academy of Engineering and Educational Research (MAEER). He holds the UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Democracy, and Peace.

He has also been instrumental in various socio-cultural initiatives, including the development of pilgrim centres in Maharashtra and the organisation of significant events such as the World Philosophers Meet in 1996 and the Asia Pacific Regional Conference on Education for Human Rights in 1999. Dr. Karad's vision led to the establishment of Avantika University, India's first design-centred university, which blends design, technology, and liberal education.
