History

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) is a company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that provides integrated port and maritime services. ADPC was formed in 2006 when the government of Abu Dhabi unified the emirate’s ports under a single authority.

The government’s decision to establish ADPC was part of a broader strategy to diversify and grow the emirate’s economy. The company was established with a mandate to develop and operate ports and maritime services in Abu Dhabi and to promote the emirate’s ports as international hubs for trade and maritime services.

Initially, ADPC’s focus was on the development of Khalifa Port, the first deep-water port in the UAE, as well as facilitating the growth of the port of Abu Dhabi. In the years that followed, ADPC expanded its mandate to include the development of other ports and maritime services, such as the provision of logistical support, maritime services, and cruise operations.

Today, ADPC is the largest and most comprehensive port and maritime services provider in the UAE. It operates 13 commercial ports, including Khalifa Port, and is responsible for the management and development of all ports in Abu Dhabi.
