History
Offering Shariah-based banking, Al-Arafah Islami Bank was founded in 1995 as a private limited sahakari bank. The bank started as a local development finance institution and was approved as a fully Islamic commercial bank by the Bangladesh Bank. In 2003, the company became a joint stock company and opened various branches throughout Bangladesh.
