Amit Jain

Amit Jain is the Co-Founder and CEO of CarDekho Group, an Autotech company in India valued at $1.2 billion as of 2021. He has played a key role in transforming the car buying and selling experience using technology.

His career began in 1999 as a Software Engineer at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). He later joined Trilogy, a US-based multinational firm, where he worked for nearly seven years in different roles, including Senior Associate, Delivery Manager, and Product Manager. At Trilogy, he was responsible for managing projects such as the evolution of YourBillBuddy.com in India.

In 2007, he co-founded GirnarSoft along with his brother Anurag Jain in Jaipur, aiming to build a large technology-driven company. A visit to the Auto Expo in 2008 led them to establish CarDekho, an online platform offering reliable automotive information. The company bootstrapped for seven years before securing $15 million in Series A funding in 2013, leading to rapid growth.

CarDekho Group now operates multiple platforms, including BikeDekho, Zigwheels, PowerDrift, InsuranceDekho, CollegeDekho, Rupyy, OTO, and Revv. The company has expanded into Southeast Asia, following a similar model to its Indian operations.

To support startups, Amit launched Girnar Vision Fund (GVF), which invests in emerging sectors such as autotech, fintech, and insuretech. His leadership has positioned CarDekho as a key player in India’s automotive sector, providing vehicle reviews, financing, insurance, and resale services.

Amit Jain continues to focus on digital transformation, business expansion, and fostering entrepreneurship. He completed his B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and studied at St. Xavier’s School before that.

Amit Jain was born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. He completed his early education at St. Xavier’s School in Jaipur. After finishing school, he pursued a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, where he studied from 1995 to 1999.

After graduating, he started his career in 1999 as a Software Engineer at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where he worked for a year. In 2000, he joined Trilogy, a US-based multinational firm, as a Senior Associate. Over the next several years, he took on different roles within the company. From 2004 to 2005, he served as a Delivery Manager, overseeing the execution of various projects. Between 2005 and 2007, he worked as a Product Manager, responsible for managing the development of YourBillBuddy.com in India. His role included designing features, launching marketing strategies, and building business models to attract telecom providers.

In 2007, he left Trilogy and, along with his brother Anurag Jain, co-founded GirnarSoft, a technology-driven company in Jaipur. The goal was to build a large-scale technology business. In 2008, after attending the Auto Expo, he identified a gap in the automotive market regarding the availability of reliable vehicle information. This led to the creation of CarDekho, an online platform designed to help users make informed decisions about buying and selling cars.

For seven years, CarDekho was bootstrapped, facing financial and operational challenges. In 2013, the company secured $15 million in Series A funding, marking a turning point in its growth. Over the years, CarDekho expanded its operations, adding new services and platforms such as BikeDekho, Zigwheels, PowerDrift, InsuranceDekho, CollegeDekho, Rupyy, OTO, and Revv. The company also expanded internationally, establishing a presence in Southeast Asia.

Amit Jain also launched Girnar Vision Fund (GVF), an investment arm supporting startups in autotech, fintech, and insuretech. The fund was created to invest in emerging businesses, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in these sectors.
