As an entrepreneur, Amrita creates original Indian-themed art on successful lines of fashion and home products and distributes it through her own personal brand, Amrita Sen Designs.

Biography

Originally from India, Amrita Sen moved to the USA in the 1980s. She was always interested in art and design, though she left the creative facet of her life for a while to study business at university. She went on to get a B.S. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Amrita started her career in banking and other businesses such as Goldman Sachs, but she pivoted to the creative industries shortly after that, starting first in Capitol Records In a recent interview, she said: “My goal in the beginning was to acquire enough experience in the business world to be able to jump into the creative and art industries, my true passions.”

In 2003, Amrita founded The Vault Agency and served as CEO of the company until 2011. Through The Vault Agency, she represented celebrities and corporations in consumer product licensing, working with clients including Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Prince, Christian Audigier, Fredericks of Hollywood, Paul Frank, Sony Music Publishing, Universal Music Publishing, EMI Music Publishing, Nintendo, CAPCOM, Prince, and many others.

As an artist and designer, Amrita debuted her BollyDoll series of illustrations at Art Basel Miami in 2011, in which she exhibited 26 colorful back-lit illustrations. Amrita partnered with MAC cosmetics and with Dillards and Nordstroms on a loungewear collection. Amrita launched her book series Cosmic and Eternal Love through a Barnes and Noble end-cap program nationwide.

Through Amrita Sen Designs, Amrita creates original Indian-themed art on successful lines of fashion and home products, which currently or have retailed at Wayfair, Walmart, Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath and Beyond, Shop NBC, Dillard’s, and Nordstrom. Amrita has also created collections with MAC Cosmetics and her illustrated book, Cosmic and Eternal Love (Chronicle Books), was prominently featured at Barnes & Noble, Amazon and Walmart.

As a musician, Amrita has been a prominent Bollywood playback singer and musician for the last 10+ years. In 2009, Amrita performed at the Academy Awards with music legend AR Rahman, singing Jai Ho from the Oscar-winning movie, Slumdog Millionaire. Amrita has performed and recorded with several major recording artists and musical groups including Justin Timberlake, Weezer, Timbaland, Pitbull, AR Rahman and the LA Philharmonic. Most recently, Amrita scored and performed in Leonardo DiCaprio’s HBO climate change documentary Ice on Fire.

Likewise, in her film and TV production company, Amrita is currently producing the Indian adaptation of John Le Carre’s The Night Manager, starring A-list actor Hrithik Roshan, for Disney Plus Hotstar. In addition to ZTS, Amrita has a production slate deal with Roth Kirschenbaum films, which include projects the WWE, John Cena, Tiger Shroff, among other high budget Hollywood Bollywood films slated for release in 2022.

Amrita serves on the Board of Overseers of the Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania.
