Antonio Vieira Santos graduated with a degree in Applied Social Research, Sociology, and Anthropology from Universidade Moderna de Lisboa in 1996. During his studies, he was actively involved in the Strategy Committee for a study on job trends. In 2011, he furthered his knowledge in communication through a course on Communication Skills for the New Media Age at University College Cork, which focused on productivity, virtual teams, and new media tools. Antonio also holds a Level 6 certification in Train the Trainer from FETAC, completed in 2010, where he studied education methodology and e-learning techniques.

Biography

Antonio Vieira Santos grew up with an early interest in social research, sociology, and anthropology. In 1996, he graduated from Universidade Moderna de Lisboa with a degree in Applied Social Research, Sociology, and Anthropology, where he was actively involved in the Strategy Committee for a study on job trends. This marked the beginning of his interest in social research and digital transformation.
 

After completing his degree, Antonio started his career in customer experience and training. He joined Sonaecom, a telecommunications company, as a Customer Experience Manager and Trainer in 2000. In this role, he was responsible for recruiting agents, designing training programmes, and improving customer service operations. He worked with major clients like Nokia, Motorola, and Samsung, focusing on enhancing service delivery and customer satisfaction.
 

In 2006, Antonio moved to Siemens, where he served as an Executive Customer Experience Coach for Europe, North America, and Oceania. Over the course of five years, he developed training for B2B customers, designed curricula for new products and services, and worked on improving customer relationships. His contributions helped to enhance the performance of Siemens’ technical operations staff and improved customer satisfaction across global accounts, including Nike and Siemens.
 

In 2011, Antonio transitioned to Atos, a global IT services company, where he took on the role of Social Media Business Evangelist. Here, he focused on social media advocacy, digital transformation, and promoting Atos’ leadership in accessibility, sustainability, and diversity. He developed strategies to amplify the brand’s presence on social media, creating content aimed at business audiences and fostering an online community focused on Atos’ innovations in digital transformation.
 

In 2014, Antonio co-founded AXSChat, a global platform dedicated to promoting accessibility and inclusion, particularly in the workplace. Through weekly Twitter chats and interviews with industry leaders, AXSChat raised awareness about the importance of accessibility and inclusion, especially for people with disabilities. AXSChat's efforts earned it the European Digital Mindset Award for Best Social Media Campaign in 2018, in recognition of its campaign advocating for social inclusion via social media. This was a significant achievement, competing against campaigns from NBC and Asus.
 

Antonio has also been actively involved with the Next Generation Internet initiative since 2015, where he has worked on reimagining the internet with a focus on privacy, transparency, and user empowerment. His role in the initiative aligns with his ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and inclusivity in digital spaces.


In 2015, Antonio joined the Women in Tech Global Movement as an Advisory Board Member. Additionally, Antonio has contributed to the development of best practices in digital transformation as a co-founder of the Digital Transformation Lab at University College Cork.
