Biography

Asako Fujisawa was born in Japan and pursued her academic studies at SOAS University of London, where she earned a BA in Chinese. This educational background laid the foundation for her diverse career, which spans multiple sectors including asset management, client relations, and digital marketing.
 

Her professional journey began in 2007, when she joined Merrill Lynch as a Corporate Access professional. During her time at Merrill Lynch, she gained significant experience in managing client relations and providing key insights into financial services. This role lasted for just over two years, until April 2009, when Asako moved on to a more senior role at Nomura Asset Management.
 

At Nomura Asset Management, Asako spent 16 years, starting in August 2009. Initially, she worked as a Personal Assistant to the Chairman & CEO. This position offered her an in-depth understanding of corporate leadership and the day-to-day operations of a large financial institution. Asako’s role evolved, and she transitioned into positions with increasing responsibility, including Analyst in Client Relationship Management in August 2011. She worked in this capacity for almost eight years, during which she developed a deep understanding of client needs and asset management.
 

In 2019, Asako moved into a more strategic role, becoming the Client Relationship and Business Management Executive. This position involved overseeing and enhancing client relationships, ensuring that the firm’s offerings met investor needs. In 2021, she was promoted to Sales Support Executive and later Head of Sales Support in 2023. During this time, Asako was instrumental in supporting fundraising efforts, managing teams, and enhancing the firm’s client service processes.


Alongside her work at Nomura, Asako has pursued multiple other initiatives. In 2021, she took on the role of Advisor to Ambassador Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia, providing strategic intelligence updates and support during speeches and conferences. She also became the President of the Inter-Cultural Society of London in 2018, where she worked to promote understanding and friendship between people of different races, nationalities, and cultures.
 

In 2022, Asako joined the World Smart Cities Forum as an Advisor. In this role, she contributed to the launch of the Smart Cities Index and participated as a panel speaker, discussing global smart city developments.


Currently, Asako is expanding her digital expertise by enrolling in a Google Digital Marketing & E-commerce Career Certificate programme. The course focuses on key areas such as SEO, SEM, Google Analytics, email marketing, and managing e-commerce platforms like Shopify.
