Avinger was founded in 2007 by two leading cardiologists and two Medical Device Veterans. The company’s initial products incorporated the use of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)—a technology first used in the 1990s—providing physicians with real-time imaging to quickly and accurately diagnose and treat vessels in the lower leg. After commercially launching its Lightbox family of products in 2012 and Lumivascular products in 2015, Avinger continued to develop and innovate, making advancements and enhancements to OCT imaging technology, and leveraging its experience with catheters and percutaneous technologies.
