History

Founded in 1981 by former high-energy physicists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Axcelis established a leadership position in ion implantation technology by introducing the world’s first high-energy commercial ion implanter. This technology significantly reduced cost and improved performance for high-power semiconductor manufacturing applications.
