Summary
PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, together with its subsidiaries, provides banking products and services to individual, corporate, and small and medium enterprise customers in Indonesia and internationally. It offers savings accounts; motorcycle financing, as well as car, housing, working capital, and investment loans; mutual funds and bonds; electronic money services; credit cards; business collection services; and home and eBanking, remittance, and customer services. The company also provides investment financing, working capital financing, auto and multipurpose financing, operating lease, other financing activities, money lending and remittance, securities brokerage dealing and securities issuance underwriting, general or loss insurance, life insurance, Sharia banking, and venture capital services. As of December 2021, it operated 1,334 offices comprising 137 main branch offices; 1,105 permanent sub-branch offices; 70 mobile sub-branch offices; and 22 functional offices, as well as total 18,034 automated teller machines (ATMs) consisting of cash recycling machines and multi-functional ATMs. PT Bank Central Asia Tbk was founded in 1955 and is headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia. PT Bank Central Asia Tbk is a subsidiary of PT Dwimuria Investama Andalan.
History
Bank Central Asia (BCA) is Indonesia’s largest private sector bank, by assets and market capitalisation. It was founded in 1957 by the Soeryadjaya family. In 1981, it launched its first branch in Indonesia and continues to be an important financial institution in the country today. In the 1990s and early 2000s, BCA was the first Indonesian bank to introduce automatic teller machines (ATM), debit cards and phone banking. The bank also launched internet banking and satellite banking during this period. In 2001, BCA became the first Indonesian bank to receive an international rating from Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s. In 2004, BCA expanded its operations to Singapore, opening its first overseas branch. In 2006, BCA acquired Bank Dharma Bumi, allowing it to serve more customers in Indonesia. The bank also entered into a strategic partnership with Japan-based Mizuho Financial Group, which provided BCA access to the Japanese and Asian markets. In 2008, BCA merged with Bank Permata, giving it access to a larger customer base. Since then, the bank has continued to expand through acquisitions, joint ventures and other strategic partnerships. BCA remains committed to providing quality products and services, backed by customer-focused technology and innovation. As of 2020, it has more than 1,500 branches and over 16,000 ATMs spread across Indonesia.
