History

Budweiser began in 1876 with Adolphus Busch and his friend Carl Conrad creating the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Association in St. Louis, Missouri. By 1879, Budweiser was being brewed and eventually distributed across the United States by the early 1880s. Throughout the 19th century, the brewery made many improvements to the brewing process, introducing pasteurization and refrigeration techniques, as well as bottling their beer for the first time in 1892. In the 20th century, the brand grew exponentially in popularity, with Budweiser becoming one of the most recognizable beer brands worldwide.

Budweiser is a classic American beer that has been enjoyed by generations of people. The beer was first brewed in St. Louis, Missouri, and the recipe is largely unchanged to this day. Budweiser quickly became a popular beer in the United States and it wasn't long before it was exported to other countries.

In the early 20th century, Budweiser began to use the iconic Clydesdale horses in its advertising. The horses are still used today in various Budweiser campaigns and are a significant part of the company's brand.

In 1982, Budweiser became the first American beer to be sold in China. This was a major milestone for the company and helped to further spread the brand's reach around the world.

In 1988, Budweiser became the official beer of the Olympics and this sponsorship has continued for the past three decades. This has been a great way for Budweiser to further cement its place in the beer industry.

In the 1990s and into the 2000s, Budweiser was a major sponsor of sports events and teams. The company was a major sponsor of the FIFA World Cup in 1994, 1998, and 2002, as well as the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. It also sponsored the Budweiser 500 NASCAR race from 1994-1998, and the Budweiser Grand National from 1999-2003.

Budweiser quickly grew its presence in the music industry in the 2000s, sponsoring major festivals like the Warped Tour and the Vans Warped Tour. The company also sponsored the Budweiser Made In America Festival in 2012, which featured performances by Jay-Z, Pearl Jam, and Run-DMC.

In the 2010s, Budweiser continued its support of sports, sponsoring the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games, and the 2016 Summer Olympics. The company also continued to sponsor the NASCAR Cup Series, the Super Bowl, and the U.S. Open.

Since 2010, Budweiser has been on a mission to increase its presence in the beer market and to become a global leader in the industry. To achieve this, the company has undertaken a variety of endeavours, including expanding its product portfolio, entering new markets, investing in sustainability initiatives, and introducing innovative technology.

Also in 2010, Budweiser launched its first foray into the craft beer market with the introduction of its Shock Top brand. Since then, the company has released a variety of speciality beers, including Budweiser Black Crown, Budweiser Reserve, and the popular Budweiser Freedom Reserve. These speciality beers have helped to broaden Budweiser’s product portfolio and appeal to a new demographic of craft beer drinkers.

In order to expand its global presence, Budweiser has also entered into new markets. In 2012, the company opened its first brewery in China. In 2018, Budweiser signed a joint venture to produce beer in India. Additionally, the company has entered into partnerships in countries such as South Korea, Spain, and Canada.

In 2017, Budweiser announced a partnership with the National League of Cities to bring Budweiser-branded events and activities to cities across the U.S. The company also started an internship program for students and recent graduates and launched the “Budweiser Made in America” music festival.

In 2019, Budweiser announced its partnership with the NBA, becoming an official partner of the league and its teams. The company also announced its sponsorship of the MLS and its clubs.

In 2020, Budweiser continued its support of sports, sponsoring the 2020 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and the 2020 World Series. The company also expanded its partnership with the NBA and became a global partner of the league.

In addition to entering new markets, Budweiser has also invested in sustainability initiatives. The company has committed to using 100% renewable electricity in its breweries by 2025.
