History

CBIZ was formed in 1987 from the merger of three regional agencies – F&H Benefit Group, National Benefit Consultants and Benefit Services Group. In 1997, CBIZ acquired Hill, Barth & King (HBK), which increased their presence in the Eastern United States. In 2000, they attained New England accounting firm Hoffman, Kronenberg, Martin & Sacks and started offering services in the Northeast region of the United States, as well as the East Coast. In 2010, CBIZ acquired the life and health insurance brokerage firm, Mally Financial Services. This acquisition allowed CBIZ to increase their presence in the health and life insurance markets. In 2013, CBIZ acquired First Call, a retirement services company; Priority Technology Holdings, a firm that developed cloud-based payroll technology; and Capstone Performance Systems, Inc., a life and health benefits administrator.
