History

Cemig was founded in 1952 as a public enterprise in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. It is now a publicly traded company with shares listed on the São Paulo and New York stock exchanges. Cemig is one of the six major electricity companies of Brazil, with a total installed electricity generation capacity of 8197MW.
