Summary

Circular Systems SPC is an innovative materials science company dedicated to creating a positive impact on the environment, society, and economy through circular and regenerative technologies. Its mission is to transform waste materials into valuable fibers, yarns, and fabrics for the fashion industry. It has developed two key platforms: Texloop™ for recycling textile waste and Agraloop™ for converting food-crop waste into BioFibre™. These scalable solutions align with the principles of the circular economy by utilising abundant waste streams.

With Texloop, Circular Systems SPC transforms textile waste into recycled fiber that can be integrated into conventional yarn spinning systems, enabling the production of high-value fashion products. Agraloop BioFibre, on the other hand, utilises food-crop waste to create innovative materials suitable for textiles. Through its patent-pending hybrid yarn spinning technology, Orbital™, it combines Texloop recycled fiber, Agraloop BioFibre, and other organic and recycled fibers to produce high-performance, natural-fiber-rich materials.

Circular Systems SPC has been recognised for its groundbreaking innovations. In 2018, it was honoured with the prestigious Global Change Award, an initiative by the H&M Foundation that aims to promote sustainable innovations in the fashion industry.

Circular Systems SPC collaborates with industry partners such as the Ellen Macarthur Foundation, Textile Exchange, Sustainable Apparel Coalition, Higg Index, Fashion For Good, Global Recycled Standard, The Organic Content Standard, and Yarn Ethically and Sustainably Sourced. These partnerships enable it to foster industry-wide sustainability efforts and contribute to the development of responsible and ethical practices in the fashion supply chain.

Circular Systems SPC aims to reshape the fashion industry and accelerating the transition towards a circular economy. By harnessing waste materials and transforming them into valuable resources, it strives to create a more sustainable and regenerative future for the fashion industry and beyond.

History

Circular Systems SPC was established in 2017 in Los Angeles, California, with a mission to create a net positive impact on the environment, society, and economy through innovative materials science. The company focuses on developing circular and regenerative technologies that transform waste into valuable fiber, yarn, and fabrics for the fashion industry. Their two main solutions are Texloop™, a platform that converts textile waste into recycled fiber, and Agraloop™, an innovation that turns food-crop waste into BioFibre™. By utilizing these waste streams, Circular Systems provides scalable solutions for the circular economy.

In recognition of their groundbreaking Agraloop technology, Circular Systems received the prestigious Global Change Award in March 2018. Among 2,600 applications from over 151 countries, Circular Systems emerged as the first-place winner, earning a share of €1 million in prize money. The Global Change Award was established by the H&M Foundation in 2016 to promote sustainable innovations within the fashion industry.

Circular Systems joined forces with Ficus Innovations to develop a premium knits collection that prioritizes the use of low-impact materials and processing methods. By combining Agraloop BioFibre from European CBD Hemp crop residues with Ficus Innovations' Natural Dye processing, they created a collection of high-quality knits that utilize pure natural resources while minimizing environmental impacts. This collaboration showcases Circular Systems' commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainability and creating innovative, eco-friendly products.

Mission

The mission of Circular Systems SPC is to minimize waste and maximize value through their Lightest Touch™ philosophy. They are committed to creating innovative solutions that allow for the retention of the maximum amount of embedded energy in waste materials while generating high-value outputs. By adopting a holistic approach to waste management, Circular Systems aims to disrupt traditional linear production models and promote a circular economy in the fashion industry.

Through their mission, Circular Systems seeks to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion industry by transforming waste materials into valuable resources. They strive to optimize the use of energy and resources throughout their processes, ensuring that the outputs generated have the highest possible value. By implementing sustainable and regenerative technologies, Circular Systems aims to create a more efficient and environmentally conscious approach to textile production, driving positive change and contributing to a more sustainable future.

Vision

Circular Systems SPC is driven by a vision to create a net positive impact on the environment, society, and economy through its innovative technologies and solutions. The company is dedicated to advancing the principles of the circular economy by transforming waste into valuable materials for the fashion industry.

By focusing on circularity and regeneration, Circular Systems aims to disrupt the linear model of production and consumption prevalent in the fashion industry, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and responsible future.

The vision of Circular Systems SPC is to provide systemic solutions that address pressing environmental challenges, such as textile waste and the utilization of food-crop waste. Through their Texloop™ and Agraloop™ technologies, they enable the transformation of textile waste and agricultural residues into high-value fibers and materials, which can be used in the production of fashion products.

By offering scalable and innovative solutions, Circular Systems strives to promote the transition towards a circular economy, where resources are conserved, waste is minimized, and materials are reused or regenerated, thereby reducing the environmental footprint of the fashion industry.
