History
Cooper Standard Automotive was founded in 1960 by Andrew P. Cooper when he purchased the self-sealing tubing division of Standard Oil Company of Indiana. The company steadily grew and expanded by acquiring other automotive component suppliers, including parts maker Elantas PDG and exhaust systems and components producer Big Brand Holdings. The company went public in 1998, getting listed on the NYSE. In 2016, Cooper Standard acquired safety closure company Autoneum, which added $5 billion to Cooper Standard’s annual automotive sales.
