History

In 1945, the Japanese government founded Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd. to develop the Japanese oil industry. The company was the first Japanese oil refinery to operate in the wake of World War II. In 1970, Cosmo Oil became Cosmo Energy and began to focus on oil and natural gas exploration, production and trading. Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Ltd. was established in 1998 and became the parent company of Cosmo Energy and its subsidiaries.
