Despegar was founded in 1999 as Decolar.com Inc. in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In December 2014, Decolar.com acquired the Brazilian company Decolar, and in October 2015, Decolar and Decolar Brazil merged under the single brand, Despegar.com.
