Dr. Lal PathLabs Limited provides diagnostic and related healthcare tests and services in India and internationally. It operates laboratories for carrying the pathological investigations of various branches of bio-chemistry, hematology, histopathology, microbiology, electrophoresis, immuno-chemistry, immunology, virology, cytology, and other pathological and radiological investigations. The company also offers lab staff training; technical; and lab management services. As of March 31, 2022, the company had 277 clinical laboratories, including National Reference Lab at Delhi and Regional Reference Lab at Kolkata; and 4,731 patient service centers and 10,599 pick-up points. Dr. Lal PathLabs Limited was founded in 1949 and is based in Gurugram, India.

History

Dr Lal PathLabs was started in 1949, by the late S. K. Lal. Lal was a Junior Doctor in the British Indian Army and studied pathology from the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, with additional training in pathology at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. The main operation of Dr Lal PathLabs deals with the performing of diagnosis and testing, including routine tests , specialized tests and preventive screenings.In 2013, Dr Lal PathLabs was awarded Best Diagnostic Service Company by VCCircle. VCCircle stated: "Dr Lal PathLabs has been able to create a brand with scale in a fragmented market. Dr Lal PathLabs is present in 800 cities with 2,000 collections centres, and caters to around 10 million patients a year."In 2014, Dr Lal PathLabs acquired the APL Clinical Institute of Clinical Laboratory & Research Private Limited.

Infrastructure

The company has 200 laboratories and diagnostic centres with approximately 1500 collection centres across India. They have also worked with BD India to open a "Centre of Excellence in Phlebotomy", a centre for training healthcare in the process of safely collecting blood samples.
