History
Duquesne Light traces its roots to its original parent organization, Duquesne Electric & Manufacturing Co., established in 1896. Duquesne Electric was one of the first group of power companies in the United States to use alternating current to transmit and distribute electricity to customers. In 1921, Duquesne Light was formed as an independent electric utility to serve the residents of Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.
