The company is investing in a variety of renewable energy technologies and exploring new sources of energy, such as hydrogen and carbon capture and storage. Equinor is also investing in deep-water exploration, which is expected to lead to new discoveries and further innovation in the energy sector.

The company was formerly known as Statoil ASA and changed its name to Equinor ASA in May 2018. Equinor ASA was incorporated in 1972 and is headquartered in Stavanger, Norway.

History

Equinor ASA (formerly Statoil) is a Norwegian oil and gas company founded in 1972 and is based in Stavanger, Norway. The Norwegian government owns the company and is one of the world’s largest offshore oil and gas operators.

Statoil was founded in 1972, when the Norwegian government created the state-owned company by merging several private oil companies in order to take control of the country’s oil and gas resources. The first oil production began in 1974 and the company quickly established itself as a significant player in the oil and gas industry.

In 2007, Statoil merged with Norsk Hydro, forming StatoilHydro and becoming one of the largest integrated oil and gas companies in Europe. In 2011, the company changed its name to Statoil ASA, reflecting its growing international presence.

In 2017, the company changed its name once again to Equinor ASA to reflect its commitment to renewable energy. The company has since become a leader in offshore wind projects, with a goal of producing 20% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030.

Equinor ASA is now a global energy company with operations in more than 30 countries, producing over 1.7 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. The company is a leader in the development of renewable energy, focusing on offshore wind. Equinor is also exploring new opportunities in hydrogen energy, carbon capture and storage, and deep-water exploration.

Equinor has been investing heavily in hydrogen energy, with the goal of developing a technology that is both reliable and cost-effective. The company is developing a hydrogen-generating plant in Scotland which is expected to produce enough energy to power up to 20,000 homes. Equinor is also working with partners in the UK and Norway to develop a network of hydrogen fueling stations.

Equinor is also investing in carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology. CCS is a process of storing carbon dioxide emissions underground, preventing them from entering the atmosphere. Equinor is currently working on a number of CCS projects, including a demonstration project in Norway, which is expected to be operational by 2021.

In addition, Equinor is investing in deep-water exploration. The company is exploring the depths of the world’s oceans in search of new oil and gas reserves. Equinor is also investing in new technology and techniques to ensure safe and efficient operations in the deep-sea environment.
