Flat6Labs is an accelerator and seed investment firm based in the Middle East and North Africa. It provides seed investments, acceleration and mentorship services to entrepreneurs from across the region. Its goal is to enable startups to launch their products and services, scale their businesses and compete in regional and global markets. 

The firm has invested in more than 100 startups across the region. It also runs a series of tailored programs and workshops, mentorship sessions and networking events to support and mentor its portfolio companies.

History

Flat6Labs is a venture capital firm that was founded in 2011 by Ramez Mohamed, Ramez Dagher and Khaled Talhouni in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It invests in early-stage technology startups primarily in the Middle East and North Africa region. The network has supported over 350 startups across the MENA region, and its alumni have gone on to raise over $200 million in funding and create over 2,500 jobs.

Flat6Labs provides seed-stage funding to tech startups and focuses on developing the startup ecosystem in the MENA region. It also provides mentorship, access to networks and resources, and access to a co-working space. The company has invested in more than 60 startups, including Careem, Souqalmal, Ride, Vezeeta, Instabug and many others.

Flat6Labs has offices in Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Jeddah, and Beirut. It has also established a presence in Saudi Arabia after it launched its first incubator program in Riyadh in 2018. In 2020, Flat6Labs launched its first accelerator program in Saudi Arabia, which is focused on female founders and entrepreneurs.

Flat6Labs has also partnered with other venture capital firms such as 500 Startups and Saudi-based Arzan Venture Capital to invest in tech startups. Flat6Labs has played a significant role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the MENA region. The program has supported hundreds of startups, created thousands of jobs, and helped to build a vibrant startup ecosystem in the region.

Investment criteria

  • Traction: Flat6Labs evaluates a startup's traction, or progress, in terms of customer acquisition, revenue growth, partnerships, and other relevant metrics. The program looks for startups that have demonstrated early traction and have the potential to continue growing and scaling.
  • Impact: Flat6Labs also considers the impact that a startup can have on society, the economy, or the environment. The program looks for startups that are developing solutions to important problems facing their communities or the world at large.
