Summary
History
Foundry Networks was founded in 1996 by three technology experts – Bobby Johnson, Andy Bechtolsheim, and Sege Yassui. The vision of the company was to leverage the increasing switch capacity of fast Ethernet switching networks to threaten traditional router markets monopolized by Cisco. Foundry was the first company to introduce 10 Gigabit Ethernet switching. By the early 2000s, Foundry had become the leading provider of Gigabit Ethernet switching solutions.
