History
Hortonworks was founded in 2011 as an independent company by Yahoo and benchmark capital. Yahoo contributed its distribution of Apache Hadoop and Hortonworks provides an enterprise grade platform. In 2014, Hortonworks was listed on the New York Stock Exchange and completed an Initial Public Offering. In 2017, Cloudera and Hortonworks merged to become the unified Cloudera.
