History
Image Metrics was founded by Mike Starkenburg and Andy Huntsman in 2001 and is headquartered in Los Angeles. The company was initially geared towards creating photorealistic digital faces for video game cutscenes. In 2007, the company released the Emmy Award-winning technology iMOCAP which automatically maps facial expressions from live video recordings. The technology was used in the production of “Avatar,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Prince of Persia,” and several other films and video games.
