In her current role, she has led investments in several innovative startups, including MyaSystems, ForestAdmin, Yulife, Onfido, Unbabel, and Beamery.
Itxaso grew up in Basque Country and had a diverse upbringing that encouraged an independent spirit. Her journey to becoming a venture capitalist included a decade of classical ballet, working on the assembly line at DaimlerChrysler, a Master's in engineering, and ultimately a PhD in Entrepreneurship.
She caught the startup virus during a visit to Silicon Valley in 2006, where she worked on her PhD as a Visiting Researcher at UC Berkeley. She moved to London in 2010 and has since been an entrepreneur, investor, and educator. She has invested in more than a dozen businesses and taught entrepreneurship to around 2,000 students at University College London and Imperial College.
Itxaso is passionate about helping entrepreneurs build their businesses, supporting them with her network, knowledge, and positive attitude. She joined Notion in 2018 from M12, where she launched their UK office and led investments in Onfido, Beamery, and Unbabel.
Itxaso is committed to helping build the very best enterprise technology portfolio in Europe, and she feels incredibly fortunate to work in an industry that allows her to meet and work with the most ambitious and incredible people: founders. In addition to her work, Itxaso has been teaching spinning classes at Virgin Active Islington and Bank since 2013 for those who want to start their day with a great workout.
