James Fisher and Sons plc was founded in 1847 by James Fisher in Barrow-in-Furness, England. Originally called Fisher and Co., the company was a specialist ship’s chandler and over time, developed its services to include freight forwarding and shipping brokerage before diversifying into marine services in the 1970s.
