JRC was established in 1937 as the Japan Broadcasting Electronic Research Institute (JERI) as a research institute of electronic science. After World War II, JERI changed its name to Japan Radio Company (JRC) and has since become a leading wireless and IT solutions provider in Japan. JRC was the first company to develop the first shortwave radio in 1937, the first analog radio in 1949 and the first digital radio in 1979.
