Summary
History
Julius Berger Nigeria Plc first entered the Nigerian market in 1965, after it was invited by the Federal Government of Nigeria to rebuild the country’s infrastructure that had been heavily damaged during the civil war. The company opened its first office in West Africa in Lagos with 30 employees and began by building bridges, roads, and dams. During the 1970s and 1980s, it undertook several notable infrastructure projects such as the Benin, Kainji and Shiroro hydroelectric power plants and projects in the majority of the Nigerian states. In the 1990s, the company began venturing into international markets, such as Ghana, Angola and Congo-Brazzaville, and in the 2000s, it increased its scope of activities to include provision of project management, consulting and voluntary services.
